Three Gorges Dam — 1.3 Million People Displaced

Construction of the Three Gorges Dam, the world's largest power station by installed capacity, displaced an estimated 1.3 million people and submerged over a thousand towns and villages along with significant archaeological and cultural heritage sites. The dam does deliver substantial flood control and clean hydropower generation for the Yangtze basin.
