Litvinenko Poisoning — UK Public Inquiry Finds Putin "Probably Approved" FSB Assassination

Former FSB officer and Kremlin critic Alexander Litvinenko died in London in November 2006 after being poisoned with radioactive polonium-210, almost certainly administered in his tea during a meeting with two Russian agents. A UK public inquiry led by Sir Robert Owen, reporting in January 2016 after years of hearings, concluded the killing was "probably" carried out by Russian agents Andrei Lugovoi and Dmitri Kovtun, and that it was "probably approved" by both FSB director Nikolai Patrushev and President Putin personally.
