Infected Blood Scandal — 30,000 Victims, Decades of Cover-Up

The Infected Blood Inquiry final report (2024) found that between 1970 and 1991 the NHS gave 30,000 patients contaminated blood products. At least 3,000 died; many more suffer life-limiting conditions. Crucially, it found that government and NHS officials knew the products were risky and covered this up for decades — across multiple governments of both parties.
