NSA Mass Surveillance Exposed — A Programme Expanded, Not Just Inherited
Edward Snowden's 2013 disclosures revealed the NSA was collecting bulk telephone metadata on virtually all Americans and operating the PRISM program to access data directly from major tech companies. The bulk collection programme originated under Bush, but continued and in some respects expanded under Obama, who defended it publicly before eventually signing reform legislation in 2015 that ended the bulk metadata collection specifically.
