Uncle Jang Song-thaek Executed in Power Consolidation Purge
Jang Song-thaek, Kim Jong-un's uncle by marriage and the country's de facto second-in-command, was stripped of all posts and executed within four days on charges of "anti-party, counter-revolutionary factional acts." US Secretary of State John Kerry called it "an ominous sign of instability" in the new leadership.
