Partygate — Law-Breaking at the Centre of Government

While the UK was under legal Covid restrictions that prevented families from meeting dying relatives, Downing Street held multiple parties. Boris Johnson attended at least one. Multiple staff were fined. Johnson lied to Parliament about his attendance — a breach of the Ministerial Code that should, by convention, result in resignation. He was forced out only when enough of his own MPs withdrew support.
